One Thing Worth KnowingUpdate · AM13 min read
What happened in week 37.
Week 37 was a difficult week for Alpha Maverick and clearly outside the type of result we want the system to produce. During the week, the strategy reached -15%, the predefined weekly hard stop, automatically closing all positions and terminating trading for the remainder of the week. A total of 10 trades were executed, of which 4 were profitable and 6 resulted in losses.
We have experienced this type of scenario before, and historically Alpha Maverick has demonstrated the ability to recover these losses through the positive performance generated in subsequent trading cycles. However, the fact that the system has recovered previously does not mean that this type of week is acceptable. Our objective is to reduce the probability of these scenarios occurring and, more importantly, to improve the way Alpha Maverick reacts before losses are allowed to develop to this extent.
What the calibration period is for.
As we have done with previous exceptional events, the week will be analysed trade by trade to understand exactly how the losses developed, how the system reacted and where additional protection can improve the outcome. Any modifications will then be tested against the complete historical dataset of Alpha Maverick. A change that improves the outcome of week 37 but negatively affects the performance of dozens of successful historical weeks would not represent a genuine improvement.
For this reason, Alpha Maverick has entered a calibration and validation period. There is no normal production trading during weeks 38 to 42, so there are no weekly results and no video reviews for those weeks. They are marked on the Results page so that the gap is explained rather than left blank. The objective for this period is very clear: analyse, calibrate and validate.
What week 37 leaves behind.
Week 37 therefore closes with a -15% result, following 10 trades, with 4 wins and 6 losses. It is clearly not the result we wanted, but weeks like this provide information that profitable periods simply cannot provide. They expose weaknesses, challenge existing assumptions and allow us to identify precisely where the system can be improved.
Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results, and capital is at risk in every trading week. Your capital stays in your broker account, in your name, and your lot size and risk settings stay under your control.
AlphaMaverick generates a uniform algorithmic strategy signal; trades are executed by an independent broker in an account held in the subscriber's own name. Nothing on this page is a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument, and nothing here is a forecast. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Capital is at risk.
